22 Aquatic Wildlife Memes to Cool Down in the Heat

This heat is too much to bear… I wish I was a fish under the sea.

This summer is something special - the heat is hotter, the humidity is thicker, and the sun seems to laugh at my face every time I dare to step outside for more than 10 seconds. It makes me remember one of the best summer vacations I've ever spent, in a very southern and hot city that's known for its diving scene. The sun was awful, for sure - but being under the water, swimming like a fish, was the best thing I could do… and this is what I did all summer long.

It makes me wonder what it would feel like to experience all summer, every summer, underwater. What's it going to be like submerged like a lazy manatee, doing nothing all day but hiding from the surface's sun? How would it feel cruising the waves like a sleek manta ray (which is like the coolest fish in the cool water)? Just how great would it feel to swim in the coolest of waters while the sun is scorching away at the sand above? I guess it would be awesome. I just want to go back to diving once again, but it seems like I can't. At least not now.

But the next best thing I can do is have a good, hard look at some aquatic wildlife memes. If you've been here for more than a day, you know that everyone here on Animal Comedy thinks that animal humor is the answer to everything, more or less. Myself included. And that's why I sink myself in all these underwater animal memes, to drown my heated sorrow in the cool humor that can always repel the summer's heat. Just don't make me go outside.

  • These two memes are about some classy orca activity that I'm not sure I'm a fan of, but I definitely find interesting. Some of them, apparently, wear salmon bodies as hats. Yeah, I know. And we all thought that only we, humans, can be fashion icons. Well, that's a mistake. Not only are we definitely not the only ones on Earth wearing fashionable items, but we have the audacity to not assume otherwise. And I'm guilty of that, too. I never even thought of this possibility. But then, I discovered that many apes and birds also “wear” certain objects, just for beauty's sake. And then… I discovered that thing about orcas and salmon. Really, research suggests this behavior is nothing more than “Look at me! I have a nice hat." but for sea creatures.
